The sides buckle slightly but I think that I adds to the casual coolness of the style. I got these boots in spice and was worried about the boots looking crazy orange but the color is more of a light rich brown. Perfection. I wear it to both work (perfect heel height for a job where I am on my feet for hours) and for weekend play.
